Michoacán ambush hits Mexican Army; several soldiers dead or wounded

In Michoacán, a fresh assault by gunmen against the Mexican Army left at least four soldiers dead and nine others wounded. An officer from the 65th Infantry Battalion confirmed to EFE that the ambush occurred around 11:00 local time (17:00 GMT) on Thursday on a dirt road connecting the towns of Coalcomán and Tepalcatepec, situated in the mountainous southern Sierra Madre region of the state. In this stretch, a group of presumed gunmen opened fire with assault rifles and deployed explosive-laden drones against a convoy carrying out anti-crime operations, underscoring the persistent violence facing security forces in the area.
