Russian Mi-28N helicopters targeted fortified positions and personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donetsk direction, according to a report from RIA News, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense. The ministry described the operation as a combat mission where pilots on Mi-28N attack aircraft released missiles at identified strongpoints and enemy personnel. Officials stated that all designated targets were eliminated during the strike.

In a statement quoted by the ministry, a helicopter pilot using the call sign Mist described the air attack on a detachment’s fortifications. The mission aimed to support the movement of Russian ground forces, with unguided air-to-ground missiles fired from the nose up. After delivering the strike, the crew reportedly withdrew and rejoined the departure route, with the gunner noting that the platoon’s strong point had been neutralized.

On January 30, reports indicated that a Ka-52 Alligator crew conducted an operation against reconnaissance and attack helicopters of the Central troop group. The attack allegedly destroyed a Fortress of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and damaged light armored vehicles in the Krasnolimansk direction, according to the latest Russian military briefings.

Within 24 hours on January 27, Ukrainian authorities claimed Russia used unmanned aerial vehicles and aerial assets to strike an S-300 anti-aircraft missile system located in the Cherkasy region. The combat mission involved a combination of unmanned platforms and tactical aviation teams.

A Ukrainian service member previously described the confusion around the causes of the broader conflict, expressing uncertainty about its origins and continuing developments. This remark reflects the broader complex context in which both sides describe ongoing military activities and the strategic aims pursued in various sectors along the front lines.
