Mi-28 Operations in Ukraine: Ministry of Defense Release

The Russian Ministry of Defense released footage showing a Mi-28 helicopter operating in a designated special operation zone inside Ukraine. The material appeared on a telegraph channel associated with the Defense Department. It is claimed that, during the sorties, camouflaged command posts and armored vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed as a result of the air sorties, according to the ministry’s statement. The report notes that the Western Military District’s army aviation supported the Ukrainian units, destroyed military infrastructure, and supplied troops with air support, while directing flights at very low altitudes to minimize detection by air defense systems.

Before takeoff, Mi-28N crews and technical personnel prepare the helicopters and stock ammunition. The Defense Ministry underlines that the aircraft ascend and operate at extremely low levels to avoid triggering Ukrainian air defense coverage. The released frames depict army aviation helicopters advancing to protect transport and engaging Mi-8s, with a fire support group aboard, striking firing points of Ukrainian forces at speeds exceeding 200 kilometers per hour.

According to the ministry, helicopters maneuver in open battle order to maximize freedom of movement and piloting options. The camera on the lens records the moment of a fire attack, as explained by the Defense Ministry. After completing their mission, the Mi-28s return to the base, where a tanker awaits and technicians remove spent casings. Ammunition is reloaded several times a day, and while some crew members head back from combat, others are preparing for subsequent departures. The sequence also included footage from the Russian military showing BM-21 Grad multiple-launch rocket systems operating within the same special operation zone.
