A second blast at a facility in the l’Alacantí region left a worker injured in Xixona this Thursday. The Emergency Medical Care Service SAMU stabilized the admitted individual after initial treatment for burns, according to information from the Emergency Information and Coordination Center CICU.
The blade of the radial tool appeared wrecked in the ensuing moments.
The alert reached CICU at 13:45 following the explosion at a company located in the El Espartal de Xixona industrial zone. The scene required dispatch of CICU teams to assist a worker suffering burns. As reported by those close to the incident, authorities are documenting the event as it unfolds and are examining a potential rupture in a metallic container used to hold chemical products.
The site where the incident occurred is the El Espartal de Xixona industrial complex, a cluster of manufacturing facilities that has drawn emergency attention on this day.
During the response, sparks flew and pressure built up near the device. The opening of the container sent a burst of energy outward, posing risks of flare and injury to anyone handling the radial if the blade or seal were damaged.
After several stabilization moves, the injured person was treated by a SAMU medical unit and moved to further care. The individual, a 33-year-old man, sustained second and third degree burns and was transported to Alicante General University Hospital by an Advanced Life Support ambulance for ongoing specialist care.
