The discussion on investment projects aimed at boosting the capacity of the defense sector will be conducted under strict oversight. Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chair of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, made the remark during a recent meeting, noting that the focus will be on ensuring steady progress in these efforts.
He clarified that the area of particular concern will be the execution of investment programs designed to expand the capacity of the defense industrial complex, emphasizing that this work remains a top priority for national security planning.
Medvedev stressed that timely implementation is essential. To ensure transparency and accountability, the ministry is to provide monthly progress reports detailing the current stages of projects and their scheduled deadlines, making it possible to track milestones and adjust timelines as needed.
In addressing the broader issue of armaments, he highlighted that Russia deployed weapons of various types during the ongoing operation, with a focus on non-nuclear systems. He pointed to a string of recent strikes on military targets in Ukraine that demonstrate the effectiveness of the Russian defense industry in 2023.
Medvedev also noted that all deliveries of highly sought-after military systems planned for the previous year have been completed, signaling a steady fulfillment of procurement commitments and a readiness to support defense needs ahead of anticipated requirements.
Earlier, Medvedev had commented on France’s decision not to condemn the Belgorod incident, indicating that the matter had been addressed in the appropriate channels and reflecting the broader stance taken at the time on international responses to the situation.
