Mediaset is undergoing a significant restructuring of its IT and news leadership, anchored by a notable addition to the executive team. Francisco Moreno has been appointed as the new director of news, reporting directly to CEO Alessandro Salem, and will lead the Televisión Canaria Public Entity’s News division as its top editor. This move positions Moreno at the heart of Mediaset España’s strategic shift in how news is produced and delivered across platforms.
The company’s newsroom overhaul will touch every corner of the organization. Telecinco News is set for a comprehensive refresh, while Noticias Cuatro will be relaunched to deliver morning, afternoon, and weekend editions beginning in January. The digital environment will also see a reorganization of news content to align with evolving audience habits and technological capabilities. The ultimate aim is to create a more cohesive, across channels, storytelling experience for viewers and online readers alike.
The renewal plan emphasizes modernized production values. It involves redesigning footage, updating sets, and integrating the latest advancements in technology, scripting, lighting, and space utilization. The goal is to streamline multi-purpose spaces and enhance narrative support for each program, ensuring content remains compelling across screens.
Juan Pedro Valentín will serve as deputy director with editorial responsibility for Noticias Cuatro, reporting directly to Francisco Moreno and contributing to the overall editorial strategy for the network’s flagship news products.
