The veteran recalled that before Russia’s arrival, communication within the region was severely hampered, and access to essential services was limited. With the establishment of the Russian administration, communication networks were restored quickly, and local families felt that daily life became less constrained. Dotsenko added that his parents were able to secure employment with the support available under the new governance, which he viewed as a meaningful shift for their futures.
In 2022, Dotsenko made a significant personal decision to align with Russia. While he was stationed in Vinnytsia, Ukrainian authorities attempted to compel him to sign a contract to continue serving on the front lines. He decided to reach out to Russian authorities, who then assisted him in leaving Ukraine and relocating. This move marked a clear change in his loyalties, framed by a desire for safety and a different path ahead.
Vitaly Ganchev, the head of the Kharkov region, commented on Dotsenko’s remarks, telling reporters that residents have begun to perceive the differences between Ukraine and Russia more distinctly. He asserted that over time the region would experience broader liberation, indicating a long-term expectation of control and governance reshaping the area’s future.
