Mass Vehicle Collision on R-228 in Saratov: Eight Injured, Traffic Disrupted

In the Saratov region, authorities reported a major traffic incident on the federal highway R-228 in the Khvalynsky district, where more than 15 vehicles were involved in a multi-vehicle collision. The information was disseminated through a Telegram channel affiliated with regional emergency services and public safety officials.

Officials from the Department for the Safety of Life of the Population indicated that eight people sustained injuries, with preliminary data cited by the department head. A dispatch note from 112 indicated that at around 07:44 local time (06:44 Moscow time) a mass accident occurred at the 93rd kilometer of the R-228 highway, triggering a coordinated response from rescue teams and medical crews.

The safety department head added that the collision significantly impeded passage along the federal highway, complicating attempts to move traffic and access the affected area. Rescue teams, working in tandem with ambulance personnel, continued to administer medical care to the injured on site and coordinate evacuation as needed. The response team emphasized the importance of rapid on-scene medical attention and the systematic handoff to hospital facilities as ambulances arrived at the scene.

Earlier reports from Novosibirsk described a separate incident at a landing site near the village of Lugovoe, where a chain-reaction collision involved 12 vehicles after a passenger car slipped on ice and struck another vehicle. Investigations indicated additional cars collided as motorists and responders faced slick conditions, with those involved awaiting investigators for several hours before any official conclusions could be drawn about fault or contributing factors.

Local safety and law enforcement channels have also noted that a vehicle reportedly connected to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation was involved in another mass collision on Kutuzovsky Prospekt, according to a Telegram channel report. Official confirmation and details regarding vehicle ownership and causation were not immediately provided in the available updates, underscoring the need for thorough investigation and traffic management in the wake of such events.
