March 2022 Flower Shop Assault: Legal Outcomes in Prokopyevsk

A resident of Prokopyevsk has been found guilty of raping a woman and involved in a frightening sequence that included violent threats, coercion to surrender money from a safe, and ongoing harassment. This assessment was reported by the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Kemerovo Region of the Russian Federation.

The events took place in March 2022 when a 34-year-old man from Prokopyevsk reportedly entered a flower shop that operated around the clock and confronted the sales assistant after hours. He reportedly pressured her to hand over all the flowers on display and additionally threatened her with an object that resembled a firearm in order to force the shop to yield the contents of its safe.

Under the threat of violence, the assailant allegedly dragged the employee into a back room where the sexual assault occurred. After the offender fled the scene, the victim contacted law enforcement authorities, leading to the rapist’s detention and subsequent investigation.

A criminal case was opened, with investigators determining that the crime was committed while the suspect was under the influence of alcohol. The court subsequently issued a sentence of 12 years and 2 months of imprisonment for the perpetrator.

In a related note, earlier reports mentioned another case in which a person with a history of pedophilia was accused of raping an 11-year-old girl at an abandoned hospital in the Moscow region. This separate incident underscores ongoing concerns about sexual violence against minors and the importance of vigilant law enforcement and judicial processes across the country.
