Marbella Beach Assault: 32-Year-Old Arrested in Connection with Gender-Based Violence

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of involvement in a gender-based violence incident after an alleged assault on his girlfriend on a Marbella beach near the Río Real area. The events unfolded early in the morning, with reports indicating the man beat the woman and left her semi-conscious, according to local municipal sources cited by Europa Press.

The sequence began around 3:40 a.m. on August 11, when Marbella Local Police were tracking a vehicle that had responded to a separate traffic collision on Avenida Severo Ochoa. The female passenger reportedly sought help and attempted to jump from the vehicle, prompting authorities to pursue the car as it headed toward the Marbella belt region. Multiple patrols, including traffic cameras, joined the search to locate the suspect, who had initially escaped from the scene.

As officers closed in, the patrols coordinated their efforts by dividing their search zones. They stopped the pursued vehicle at a point near the jurisdiction boundary with Mijas before redirecting their attention to the coastal areas. In accordance with the newspaper Sur, officers then conducted a thorough sweep of the beachfront zones around the Río Real complex and the neighboring coastal urbanizations in hopes of locating the suspect and any additional victims or injuries.

Law enforcement observed the driver at the beach area wearing a blood-stained suit. He had swollen hands and visible bloodstains on the passenger-seat upholstery. After holding him for questioning, officers learned that the woman was his girlfriend. He acknowledged leaving her on the beach and reportedly muttered that he felt as if his head had gone missing, a phrase that raised concerns about his state of mind during the incident.

Where the woman lay—the beach in a dimly lit area—officers found her semi-conscious, with facial bruising, a cut on her chin, and clothing stained with blood. Investigators confirmed later that tire tracks and sand markings suggested she had been dragged from a vehicle or another location to the spot where she was found, adding another layer of distress to the incident. The scene prompted an ambulance to respond promptly to provide medical attention to the injured woman, who remained under observation following emergency care at the site.

The suspect, a man described as 32 years old and of Hispanic origin, was placed under arrest and later processed on site. In addition to the allegations of violence, authorities noted that the driver faced a separate charge for reckless driving. He was also subjected to a preliminary alcohol test, which yielded a positive result, although the estimated blood alcohol level did not exceed the legal minimum threshold at the time of testing. The investigation continues as officers gather evidence and interview witnesses to establish a full account of the events surrounding the early-morning incident.
