A man brought to the regional recruiting center in Svetlovodsk, located in the Kirovohrad region of Ukraine, reportedly died by suicide in the presence of medical staff and law enforcement officers. This development was reported by Strana.ua, citing authorities on the scene.
The incident allegedly occurred on March 28 after a local resident reportedly warned police that the man might attempt to take his own life. Officers arrived in response to these concerns and, witnessing concerning behavior, called for an ambulance to transport the individual for assessment.
Emergency medical teams arrived, evaluated the person, and determined that urgent psychiatric care was warranted. Moments after this assessment, the man used force against a police officer and took his own life in the vicinity of the officers and responders involved in the intervention.
A representative of the Kirovohrad regional police, Vitalina Bevzenko, stated that investigators will provide a formal legal assessment of the actions taken by the officers who were present at the scene after reviewing all relevant evidence.
The report also references a previously noted figure in Ukraine’s military context: a soldier with the call sign “Shark,” identified as Anatoly Prokudin, who is described as having been eligible for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and who has served time in prison and is located in a high-security medical facility. This background information underscores ongoing concerns about individuals with complex mental health and legal histories within military recruitment processes.
Earlier, a Kaliningrad resident was reported to have been detained in a penal colony after attempting to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces, illustrating broader cross-regional dimensions of recruitment and security considerations in the area.
