A man accused of fatally stabbing his partner’s ex-wife in Villena was reported to have entered Istanbul earlier this Saturday before being apprehended. He was arrested after a pursuit in Alicante and taken into provisional detention without bail, a decision announced by the Villena duty judge, according to sources close to the investigation. The content of the judicial statement remains undisclosed, including whether the accused admitted to the facts and the grounds he offered for the case. Details about the charges were not clarified by the sources consulted.

The victim and the suspect had no prior police records, and the investigation indicates that the 42-year-old victim had little chance to defend himself. As soon as the door was opened, the man now in custody allegedly began stabbing him.

The two men lived only a few streets apart in El Poblao. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect flee the residence through the doorway as blows and screams echoed, urging the door to be opened.

The arrested individual, who reportedly suffers from kidney disease, was taken to a hospital after the arrest. He remained in possession of the murder weapon at the time of arrest, and investigators noted several collisions during the escape by car and subsequent pursuit on foot.

The murder occurred shortly before 2:00 pm at the victim’s home in the San Francisco neighborhood, colloquially known as “El Poblao.” Neighbors stated that the detainee appeared at the house of his current wife’s ex-wife during the investigation, and officers began the inquiry after loud banging on the door. The victim, a 42-year-old mechanic by trade, opened the door and was stabbed at least three times before the assailant fled.

First responders arrived at the scene to find the victim severely injured. The Emergency Medical Care Service unit confirmed the death upon arrival.

Reports indicate the attacker fled in a red Seat Arosa and later resurfaced in Alicante after a brief chase. He reportedly moved through the western area of the port, broke through a fencing barrier, and then left the port area again. He headed toward the fishing pier before reaching Dachser’s logistics center, where he abandoned the car and continued to escape on foot after another collision. Moments later, Civil Guard and Prosecutor and Borders unit officers detained him.
