A Mallorcan influencer named Naim Darrechi and his partner were detained in Mexico after an incident at the Mexico City airport. Reporters approached them for comments about their work, and the couple, who had been in a relationship for weeks and expecting a child, faced accusations of ill treatment.
Darrechi did not handle the situation well, waving away microphones and directing a hostile exchange at the journalists who shouted insults. Moments later, he allegedly kicked at the crowd, and Mexican media reported that one camera belonging to reporters was damaged in the altercation.
Airport security intervened promptly, and a police patrol detained the Majorcan influencer.
Arrested for drug use
This is not the first time Darrechi faced legal trouble in Mexico. He was arrested in Boca del Río, Veracruz, on April 12 for drug possession and for disrupting public order, according to local authorities.
The influencer, who has spoken publicly about his use of marijuana, had argued that Mexican law allowed public drinking and a permit for social gatherings, but the authorities clarified that while carrying small quantities of cannabis might be tolerated in some contexts, consumption on public streets is prohibited. Darrechi and his companions were taken into custody and later released after a night in custody. He and his partner publicly acknowledged the arrest shortly afterward.
Arrested in Majorca
In Mallorca, Darrechi has previously faced legal issues related to public disturbances. During a nighttime event in Drassana Square amid public celebrations, he reportedly mocked law enforcement and refused to back down from confrontations with officers. He even shared footage of the arrest on his social networks.
For these incidents, and after admitting to taunting and clashing with police and injuring a person, Darrechi accepted a six-month prison sentence and a 180-euro fine in Mexico. The sequence of events demonstrates a pattern of public disputes and enforcement actions linked to his high-profile status.
