In the center of Majadahonda, a building lies under occupation by residents who oppose the eviction efforts. The occupants say they will continue to defend the Desokupa team until a court order compels them to depart.

Approximately fifteen people connected with the Desokupa organization attempted an early morning eviction at eight o’clock on Wednesday. The building on Ciriaco García street has housed residents since last September, and the inhabitants resisted the planned removal, reacting with force to block the entry of the eviction team.

In statements given to the news agency Efe, the representatives noted that objects were thrown in what they described as a self-defense response, while others arrived with a three-meter pole, dogs, knives, and razors visible in the scene.

At the site, Civil Guard patrols and Local Police were stationed to monitor the situation. They warned that any return by the eviction group, accompanied by dogs or violence, would be met with firm opposition. They added that if the organization were to come from Barcelona rather than from the local area, residents would defend themselves until the police could arrive.

Civil Guard officials confirmed deploying around a dozen patrols to the area, with assistance from Local Police collaborators nearby.

According to these officials, one Desokupa employee sustained a minor knife wound and was advised to seek medical attention and then file a formal complaint.

Beyond the clashes with the eviction team, reporters from Telemadrid were assaulted as they covered the events, and stones were thrown at journalists who attempted to approach the site during the morning hours.

The occupants have shared footage that purportedly shows Desokupa members attacking various individuals. They claim the roof of the building has been secured and residents inside remain inside, unwilling to come out.

Two individuals related to the situation described people living in the building as including families, children, and individuals who use drugs, while others do not. They reported that authorities arrived with an official document outlining when residents should leave, suggesting a planned, orderly exit when the time came.

Residents of the block indicated that months earlier they had paid 7,000 euros per person to the building owner, who had lived on a lower floor, in exchange for access to the doors of the homes. Since then, the residents have lived with the necessities of electricity, water, and ongoing building maintenance at their disposal.

They described living alongside what they called criminals up to a month ago and claimed that drug activity had diminished since the police presence increased in the area.

A neighbor on the same street told Efe that there had been robberies at nearby bars for months, contributing to a heightened sense of insecurity. The neighbor also acknowledged a noticeable change in recent weeks, noting that a steady Local Police presence had improved the mood of the street.

Following the morning incident, the occupants remained inside the building, and no arrests had been reported according to police sources.
