Even before its doors officially open, the Marina d’Or project has begun drawing attention from travelers. The new complex, to be named Magic World, is quickly moving toward completion, with roughly 5,000 pre-bookings secured in just three days as part of the Magic Costa Blanca network. For the owners, this rapid interest provides a potent incentive to bring fresh facilities online and showcase a renewed vision for the site in Oropesa del Mar.

In Benidorm and within the Fuertes group framework, the plan for the entire complex has been outlined with a focus on a full renovation. The project envisions not only a new name but also a refreshed and expanded suite of amenities. Javier García, head of Magic Costa Blanca, revealed at the International Tourism Fair that details of the Marina d’Or purchase are still under wraps. Tomás Fuertes, president of the Fuertes Group, along with tourism official Nuria Montes from the Valencian Community, Marta Barrachina, president of the Castellón Provincial Council, and Araceli de Moya, mayor of Oropesa del Mar, were present to discuss the reforms.

García remarked, “We reached nearly 5,000 reservations in about 72 hours since the hotels’ websites went live and customers could preview the project, signing up for this new Marina d’Or, the Magic World concept.”

The response to the pre-sale has been very favorable among authorities, civil society, and residents alike. “We are very pleased with the warm reception,” noted the representative from the Benidorm chain.

The new ownership plans to invest around 40 million euros in a comprehensive renovation of the complex. The renovation includes a family-oriented theme across all hotels, the opening of three water parks, five restaurants, a beach club, and a large fitness center, among other developments. The existing three-star hotel is set to be upgraded to a four-star property as part of the upgrade.

Timing for the opening appears settled. Previous coverage suggested a summer unveiling, but the latest updates confirm a firm opening date of Wednesday, May 31. The goal is to have all facilities in Marina d’Or ready by that day, including the five-star resort amenities and outdoor spa experiences that the project markets under its luxury banner. In the second phase, the Thalasso center is anticipated to open, with García indicating it could be ready by March or April 2025. He cautioned that this level of development represents a significant responsibility for the single five-star property in Castellón.

The Magic Costa Blanca representative explained that the project will target both national and international visitors. The aim is to attract travelers who prefer to space out their holidays outside the peak summer months, thereby desossseasonalizing demand across the year.

Tomás Fuertes, leading the Fuertes Group, attended the presentation and emphasized the emotional commitment behind the project, expressing hope for strong success. Tourism Minister Nuria Montes highlighted the joint commitment of both companies and noted that the initiative is poised to connect with a market that accounts for a meaningful share of travelers to the region. Montes suggested the venture could attract a substantial portion of the tourist flow, increasing overall visitation to the area. She added that the project is expected to open doors for a broader set of visitors seeking the new Marina d’Or experience. The leadership also stressed that the venture is designed to attract guests across diverse markets and to offer a year-round destination for travelers seeking leisure and wellness amenities.

Barrachina underscored the active collaboration between the Castellón County Council and the Board of Trustees to ensure Magical World meets its potential. The mayor of Oropesa del Mar stated that the city will cooperate to help deseasonalize the destination and drive continued growth, while supporting the new resort’s integration with the local community and economy. The overarching message from all parties is a shared conviction that the project aligns with regional tourism goals, elevates the guest experience, and expands opportunities for residents and visitors alike.

In total, the initiative represents a substantial step for Magic Costa Blanca and its partners, signaling a renewed era for Marina d’Or with a focus on upscale, family-friendly experiences, and a year-round appeal that can sustain momentum well beyond the summer season. The evolving layout and services promise to redefine the seaside destination and its role in the broader tourism landscape of Castellón and the Valencian Community.
