The Madrid police detained a 28-year-old man from Ecuador after a violent confrontation that left several people injured, including a 30-year-old Dominican man who was stabbed, and the former partner of the aggressor, who played a part in the ensuing chaos. During the incident, the assailant also bit and scratched a police officer who was attempting to assist the wounded man, according to a spokesperson at the Madrid High Police Station cited by Europa Press.

The incident occurred on a Saturday evening, around 9 p.m., at Paseo de los Olivos, 110 in the Latina district. Witnesses said that two couples became embroiled in a heated argument that quickly escalated into insults and physical clashes. At one point the Ecuadorian suspect produced a knife from his clothing and stabbed the Dominican victim in the left forearm, the footage and statements from bystanders indicated, highlighting how quickly a tense verbal dispute can turn into a life-threatening confrontation.

Responding officers arrived at the scene within minutes after bystanders alerted emergency services. As they evaluated the bleeding wound and attempted to provide aid, one of the officers applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding and stabilize the victim. In a troubling turn, the attacker’s girlfriend joined the fray, making contact with the officer in a violent manner by biting, scratching, and kicking him, which complicated the emergency response and required immediate intervention by other responders on site.

Emergency medical teams from Samur-Civil Protection arrived shortly after and provided initial care to the stabbed man. He was then transported to the Clinical Hospital for further treatment. A spokesperson for Madrid Emergencies reported that the casualty’s condition was not life-threatening, though the wound required medical attention and monitoring to prevent complications. The swift collaboration between police and medical teams helped ensure the victim received timely care while maintaining order at the scene.

Authorities subsequently took the alleged attacker into custody at the location on charges of wounding and assault on a law enforcement officer. The incident also involved the attacker’s 21-year-old Colombian partner, who faced police action in connection with the disturbances at the scene and the alleged involvement in the broader altercation. Both individuals received medical evaluation and attention as part of the response, ensuring that all parties received appropriate care where needed and that the legal process could proceed with a clear understanding of the events that unfolded.
