Madrid knife attack by gang members leaves a 20-year-old with severe injuries
In Madrid, six individuals linked to the Trinitarians gang were detained after a brutal assault at a cocktail bar in the Tetuán district. A 20-year-old Dominican man, a member of the same gang, sustained catastrophic injuries including the amputation of an arm following the attack. Authorities reported that the assailants arrived armed with machetes and planned to target their rival in a violent confrontation.
Five suspects, aged 19 to 22, were arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred around 02:00 on a recent Wednesday night. A sixth suspect, a minor, was placed under the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office as investigators continue to search for additional perpetrators. The case is being pursued as attempted murder and criminal organization involvement.
The victim was socializing with friends at a venue on Marqués de Viana street when members of the same gang entered the establishment wearing hoodies and carrying machetes. One suspect had reportedly entered the bar beforehand to confirm whether the target was present. The assailants cornered the victim in the venue’s bathrooms, forced the door, and launched a violent attack, inflicting serious head and leg injuries, and the harm that led to the arm amputation.
After the assault, the injured man was swiftly attended to by medical staff following stabilization by emergency responders at the scene. He was transported to La Paz hospital, where he subsequently required intensive care treatment for several days as doctors battled to save his life and restore stability. The severity of his injuries necessitated ongoing care and monitoring in a critical care setting.
Authorities from the Provincial Information Brigade, with specialists focusing on youth gangs, led the investigation that culminated in the detention of six alleged perpetrators the following day. The inquiry continues as police review security footage, interview witnesses, and pursue additional leads to determine the full scope of involvement by the group in this violent act (Source: Madrid Police).
