A major security operation is set to unfold in Madrid ahead of a forthcoming concert in the capital. A device will be deployed this Wednesday as part of enhanced preparations by local authorities to ensure public safety during the event. This plan follows reports of concerns raised by residents and authorities alike about potential disturbances linked to public gatherings in the city center.

A spokesperson for the local government, Inmaculada Sanz, emphasized that a coordinated effort will be carried out by the Municipal Police with maximum cooperation from the Government Delegation. She stated that a special security service would be in place to support security needs around the concert area and to monitor related incidents, including any threats to crowd safety that could arise in adjacent neighborhoods.

The Government Delegate for Madrid, Mercedes González, confirmed that the National Police had initiated the broader security operation. She noted that prior security measures were already executed for the event and for the incident in Fuenlabrada, and that those steps were satisfactory in preventing further risk. She underscored that authorities are prepared for unpredictable situations and will respond decisively to any serious threat to public safety.

During the briefing, it was explained that youth gangs and other criminal organizations fall mainly under the jurisdiction of the National Police. The Municipal Police will continue to strengthen areas where their presence can support national efforts, enhance visibility, and help deter criminal activity in high-risk zones. This collaborative approach aims to prevent violence and protect communities, especially around large gatherings and venues that attract visitors from across the region.

The Emergency and Security delegate concluded with a clear message about Madrid’s overall safety credentials. The city remains among the safest in Europe, yet authorities acknowledge the ongoing need to address youth gangs and to reduce the risk of violent incidents through proactive measures and community outreach.
