Madrid’s district court handed a prison sentence to a housing worker for a grave violation that occurred in the Pacific district of the capital. The case involved sexual abuse of a 97-year-old woman, who reported being pinched and touched in intimate areas by the employee while she was under his care.
According to Europa Press, the presiding judges ordered the defendant to stay at least 500 meters away from the victim and barred him from practicing any caregiving profession for three years. The court docket identifies him as José Luis RM and notes the imposed professional restriction alongside the custodial term.
The elderly woman described the distressing acts, saying the events left her shaken and humiliated as she recounted how she was touched and insulted by the person she believed would be responsible for her safety and wellbeing.
The incidents are reported to have taken place on August 19, 2019, shortly after the worker began his duties at a private residence located in the Pacífico district, a residential area of Madrid. The gravity of the misconduct prompted a formal investigation and immediate security measures within the facility to protect other residents.
“It hurt me a lot”
During the hearing, the defendant described his state of learning at the time, stating that he was supervised by supervisors and that his daily tasks were monitored. He claimed that at the end of the day a factory manager redirected him to handle a particular room himself. He also mentioned that a colleague had been present when the incident occurred, but soon left the scene.
The woman’s account continued with details about how she was partially undressed in the room. She explained that her nightgown was adjusted and that she felt discomfort as the situation escalated. She described instances where her clothing was removed or loosened and disputed any claim that she consented to the actions. She emphasized that the touch was prolonged and that it caused significant pain and distress.
Following the complaint, the establishment launched internal security protocols to address the seriousness of the allegations. An investigation was opened, and the facility moved the employee to a different location as a precaution. The organization also placed another responsible person beside the worker to oversee the area and protection of residents. Ultimately, the man was terminated from his position as a result of the findings and actions taken by management in response to the report, which was supported by the victim’s testimony and corroborating evidence gathered during the inquiry (Europa Press).
