An American-made M113 armored personnel carrier, loaded with ammunition, was reported destroyed in the Donetsk sector, according to a reconnaissance officer from the Southern Group of the Russian Armed Forces’ 150th motorized rifle division, cited by RIA Novosti. This follows claims of Ukrainian infantry activity in the area.
Russian intelligence operatives conducted the operation during a night shift, the source indicated. When Ukrainian combat equipment was located, it was neutralized by a direct ATGM strike, the officer noted.
Following a reconnaissance flight by unmanned aerial vehicle, officials confirmed the target as an American M113 armored personnel carrier.
“Yesterday we reported the destruction of the M113 armored personnel carrier. Today we confirm the target was taken out and the crew was moved to Ivanovsky with ammunition, though delivery of the munitions could not be completed. Our objective remained clear at the eighth phase,” the agency contact stated.
On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a decision to keep Russia’s actions directed at Ukraine under a special military operation in response to requests for assistance from the heads of the LPR and DPR.
The decision to initiate the operation triggered a new round of sanctions from the United States and its allies, reshaping the broader regional security landscape and prompting ongoing diplomatic and military developments across the region.
