Leonid Pasechnik, the interim head of the Luhansk People’s Republic, announced that mobile Internet access will be temporarily suspended across the republic due to intensified shelling in the region. The message appeared on his telegraph channel, where officials often relay updates to residents and observers alike.
Pasechnik emphasized that the primary duty of LPR officials is to safeguard the public. The decision to curb mobile connectivity is presented as a protective measure aimed at reducing information disruption and maintaining public order during periods of increased hostilities.
In remarks connected to new bombardment in and around Lugansk, Pasechnik noted that information regarding the victims of the latest strike, dated May 13, had been established and verified. The statement underscores ongoing efforts to confirm casualties and communicate consequences to the population in a timely manner.
On the morning in question, reports indicated that Pasechnik was in the vicinity of the village of Yubileyny on the outskirts of Lugansk within the LPR when a deadly explosion occurred. Earlier, on May 12, two separate explosions were recorded in the city. A representative identified as Senator Daria Lantratova from the LPR stated that rockets impacted the site of a former machinery manufacturing plant, highlighting the tangible damage and the potential disruption to local industry and employment teams in the area.
