Lolita Flores reflected on Carmen Sevilla’s passing, recalling the emotional toll it took on her and the moments she shared with the beloved performer. The jury on Your Face Comes to Me surprised many when they referenced the last time they spoke with the artist, speaking candidly at the launch of Elena Furiase’s debut book.
“When I had to say goodbye 13 to 14 years ago, I said goodbye to him. I spoke to him on the phone, and that was our final meeting. I could feel his illness even then”, the actress said, noting how deeply she missed Carmen and how painful the news was. She added that she would honor his memory without saying anything that could diminish the impact of his life and legacy.
Prior to these remarks, Lolita honored the singer with a heartfelt Instagram post. She wrote: “You left quietly, and I have so much to thank you for, Carmen.”
She expressed gratitude for the way Carmen Sevilla stood by her as a guiding light since childhood, staying by her side during the most challenging and joyous moments of Lolita’s life. The singer’s absence is something Lolita has felt for a long time, and now, knowing Carmen is no longer with us, she described her as a towering presence that remains firmly part of her family. Her mother had often spoken of Carmen as a close friend, someone who embodied warmth and support. Now, Lolita concluded, they would be reunited in memory and spirit as time goes on.
“Carmen from Spain, my friend, a world-renowned star who touched so many lives, is irreplaceable. I deeply love you and will continue to love you. My condolences go out to Augusto Algeró. If I could, I would give you a long hug and a big kiss. Carmen’s mother has departed this world, and Carmen Sevilla remains unique and unforgettable in our hearts. Rest in peace, Carmen. Rest”, the actor asserted with quiet reverence.
