A 41-year-old man was arrested in Lena by the local police after a series of alleged road safety violations. The case centers on a quad vehicle being driven without a valid license, without an MOT, and without insurance. A trailer was attached to the quad, and the vehicle reportedly carried a dead donkey that lacked any identification. The accused faces potential imprisonment for three to six months, a possible community service sentence ranging from 31 to 90 days, and a financial penalty.
Police reports indicate the incidents occurred on Monday, October 2. Investigators are pursuing the allegation that the man violated traffic safety laws while operating an agricultural quad without a valid license. The driver had exhausted his points balance on his license, according to official sources, which accounts for the license issue cited by investigators.
Without inspection or insurance
The matter did not end with the initial charges. Local police confirmed that the quad lacked compulsory insurance and underwent no official inspection. A light trailer bearing a license plate that did not match the tow vehicle was found attached to the quad. To worsen the situation, the vehicle was carrying a dead donkey that did not have identification. The events were reported to the Regional Office of the Ministry of Rural Environment and Agricultural Policy, and formal minutes were prepared to document the concerns.
The police report was forwarded to the appropriate jurisdiction for further action. In addition to the penalties already noted, the driver faces administrative complaints for the lack of insurance and for the absence of a valid inspection on the vehicle that was attached.
The case echoes a recent trend involving animals in traffic incidents. Just over a month prior, another driver in Ciaño was detained for driving without a license while transporting two goats in the vehicle. Those animals were alive, and the driver left the scene accompanied by a passenger in the vehicle.
