In the Leningrad region, investigators are looking into an incident involving a 16-year-old student who is suspected of attempting to ignite a fire at a military registration and enlistment office located in Kirovsky district. A criminal case has been opened on charges of intentional damage to property with hooligan motives, as reported by the regional office of the Investigative Committee of Russia (SU SK) for the area.
The department notes that the case was transferred from the police to the district investigative authorities under Part 3 of Article 30, and Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The filing concerns an attempted arson at the military commissariat. The District Investigative Committee’s Major Case Investigation Department has accepted the case for detailed examination and further investigation.
Preliminary data indicate that on February 28 this year, a minor arrived at the building of the military commissariat in Kirovsk and threw a bottle containing flammable liquid at the door of the military registration and enlistment office, but the fire did not spread. After the incident, the young person fled to a nearby bus stop, where law enforcement officers detained him.
Law enforcement sources state that investigative actions continue to establish the full set of circumstances and the underlying causes of the incident.
Earlier reports mentioned a ninth-grade student from Tyumen who faced arrest in connection with a similar fire-setting at a military registration office; this related case is referenced for context within ongoing national attention to incidents of this kind.
