A long-unsolved case from the early 1990s in the United States took a grim turn when a body was found in a burned car in Lebanon, Kansas. Responding officers discovered a fire-damaged vehicle with a body in the passenger seat, and investigators reported several items nearby, including a pistol, an empty cartridge case, a wig, and women’s clothing. DNA testing later identified the deceased as Stephen Wynn, a man who had identified as a woman and adopted the name Christine after his gender transition. This identification confirmed Wynn as the person in the vehicle, linking a disappearance from more than three decades ago to the fatal arson scene.
