Police authorities stopped a large-tonnage truck at the entrance to Seville, uncovering approximately 1,500 kilos of marijuana stowed in the vehicle’s box. The seizure occurred after routine checks by the armed forces at a checkpoint near the city boundary.

Local reports from Diario de Sevilla, corroborated by Civil Guard sources and relayed to the press agency, indicate the vehicle was halted in the early hours as it traveled along the A-49, the Huelva to Seville motorway, close to the SE-30 ring road. The stop followed a standard inspection of documents and roadworthiness performed for all drivers at dawn.

During the customs and safety assessment, the driver exhibited noticeable signs of nervousness that prompted officials to scrutinize the cargo more closely. This led to the discovery of around fifty large bundles, each containing marijuana, securely packed for transport.

The cargo was not concealed among ordinary freight. Instead, the entire trailer, typically used for perishable cold storage, had been repurposed to accommodate the large quantity of narcotics. The deliberate packing and the placement of the bales made the concealment attempt seem more obvious to the inspecting officers.

At this time, authorities have not identified the driver or disclosed the destination or routes used. The individual faces arrest on suspicion of crimes linked to public health and narcotics trafficking.
