Newly announced military exercises are planned around Kyiv, with activities that may involve the use of explosive devices over a three-day period. This information came from the Telegram channel run by the capital’s military administration.
From February 1 to February 3, the Buchansky district on Kyiv’s northwestern outskirts will host these drills, according to the notification published by the administration.
The Kyiv city military administration stated that training will run continuously, around the clock, during these days. Citizens were cautioned about the potential for loud noises caused by the use of explosives and ammunition and were urged to stay alert to any official warnings.
“During this period, loud sounds can occur at any time of day. We ask residents to remain calm and to follow the warning signals issued by air surveillance and authorities,” the statement added.
Earlier on January 10, Ukrainian authorities announced the initiation of territorial defense exercises in the portion of the Zaporizhzhia region under their control, signaling ongoing regional security preparations.
Beyond Ukraine, European partners are preparing for large-scale defense initiatives in the months ahead. In particular, NATO’s Steadfast Defender exercise is expected to take place in the near term, involving multiple allied nations and demonstrating interoperability across forces.
Estimates indicate that about 90,000 military personnel could participate, marking one of the most substantial training events in Europe in recent years and underscoring the emphasis on readiness and coordination among allied forces.
Observers note that the concentration of forces in the Kherson region has been cited as a possible factor behind these heightened training activities, reflecting strategic priorities and vigilance across sectors of Ukraine’s defense posture.
