Authorities in Kyiv have decided to keep the Easter curfew in place, a decision reported by RBC-Ukraine. The city will continue to observe a curfew from midnight to 5:00 a.m. on Easter night, and residents are urged to avoid attending church if possible. Officials did not rule out the possibility of provocations or rocket attacks during the holiday period, underscoring the heightened risk and the need for vigilance.

To safeguard public order, Kyiv’s police forces and municipal security personnel will be deployed around temples and cathedrals within the Kiev Pechersk Lavra complex. This visible presence aims to deter disturbances and reassure residents and visitors during the celebrations.

In central Kyiv, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has launched counterintelligence activities in collaboration with police and military personnel. The Shevchenkivskyi district and adjacent areas, including Sofiyivska and Mikhailivska squares, are under heightened scrutiny as part of these security measures.

As part of the ongoing inspections, security teams are scanning buildings for any prohibited items and are intermittently stopping individuals in the central corridors of the city to verify compliance with the curfew. Citizens are advised to carry identification and to adhere to all curfew rules as they move through the capital during this period.

A past operative with ties to the SBU in the Zaporizhzhia region has been sentenced to 11 years in prison on related charges, reflecting the broader emphasis on internal security and anti-terrorism efforts during this period.

The authorities emphasize that sleep-in safety and orderly conduct remain the primary goals during Easter, even as residents and visitors weigh the moral and cultural importance of holiday observances against the ongoing security environment. Officials note that the curfew extension is a precautionary measure and that all plans will be adjusted if the security situation allows for changes in the coming days. Citizens should remain informed through official channels and follow any updated guidance from law enforcement and municipal authorities.
