The briefing summarized the ongoing impact of the conflict on the district across more than two years of hostilities. The report, attributed to regional authorities, notes that the shelling events have taken place over an extended period and have affected communities across the region.
During the latest update, the governor reported two separate shelling incidents within the Kursk region in the most recent 24 hours, adding that there were also events in the initial eight days of 2024, which contributed to the cumulative tally. The emphasis of the briefing was on the pattern and frequency of attacks rather than isolated episodes, illustrating a sustained risk to civilians and infrastructure during the ongoing crisis.
In addressing the overall toll, the governor stated that, counting everything since the onset of Russia’s special operation, the territory of the Kursk region has experienced 1,906 bombardments attributed to Ukrainian forces. The update highlighted the human impact of the strikes, noting that 76 residents of the region had been injured since late February 2022, underscoring the civilian harm that has accompanied the military actions over an extended period.
The briefing also touched on specific incidents, including a report from January that Kozino village was subjected to shelling by Ukrainian forces, which caused partial outages in electricity supply for parts of the village.
