In the Kursk region, local authorities report that air defense units intercepted a number of enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the past day. According to a widely followed Telegram channel associated with regional leadership, acting governor Alexey Smirnov confirmed that twelve aircraft-type drones were brought down by defense forces near Kursk. The declaration highlighted the effectiveness of the region’s air defense capabilities in countering aerial threats and safeguarding civilian areas.

Smirnov’s post attributed the successful interceptions to the vigilance and coordination of air defense personnel in the Oboyansky and Medvensky districts. The governor thanked the servicemen and women for their rapid response and precision in neutralizing incoming UAV targets, which helped minimize potential damage to populated areas and infrastructure.

Earlier on July 28, Smirnov announced another engagement in which a Ukrainian aircraft-type UAV was downed in the Medvensky district. He urged residents to exercise caution and avoid approaching the wreckage until officials could secure the area and conduct investigations. Local authorities stressed the importance of reporting any debris promptly to authorities and avoiding interference with disposal operations.

During the same period, reports indicated that a residential building in the village of Medvenka suffered a fire-related incident after debris from a downed drone fell in the vicinity. The official noted that emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and that a local resident sustained injuries in the course of the events. Separate mentions described a separate incident in which Ukrainian forces allegedly used helicopters to drop explosives on a residential zone in the town of Sudzha, resulting in property damage and public concern over civilian safety.

In another update, authorities referenced prior days when Ukrainian drone activity led to the fall of payloads in the Kursk region, including instances in which explosives were reportedly directed at fishermen along local waterways. The cumulative guidance from regional officials emphasizes ongoing vigilance, adherence to safety protocols, and the rapid dissemination of information to residents during crises involving aerial threats. The public is advised to follow official channels for verified alerts and to remain away from disruption zones until law enforcement and emergency services conclude their assessments and containment measures.
