A Krasnodar resident, Stanislav Lisovsky, was found guilty by the Southern District Military Court of preparing to commit high treason and attempting to join the extremist organization known as the Russian Freedom Legion, which is prohibited in Russia. Reports indicate that Lisovsky was recruited in November 2023 to take part in hostilities on the side of Ukraine’s armed forces. According to communications with a representative of the Russian Freedom Legion via the Telegram messenger, the plan involved moving from Krasnodar to Donetsk and then crossing into Ukrainian territory. Security services tracked the individual’s intentions as soon as the collaboration began, and subsequent actions were conducted under the close supervision of law enforcement authorities.
On November 16, Lisovsky purchased an online ticket for a Krasnodar–Donetsk bus and proceeded to the bus station, where officers were waiting to arrest him. The military court found him guilty on two counts: attempting to participate in the activities of a terrorist organization and preparing for high treason. The sentence comprises seven years in prison, with the first two and a half years served in a standard penitentiary facility and the remainder in a maximum-security penal colony.
A separate note from the proceedings involved an earlier case in which a former head of a military unit depot in Vladikavkaz received a six-year sentence related to the sale of helmets and binoculars, highlighting a broader pattern of alleged illicit activity connected to military resources.
