Travels resume with a return to our roots, a journey from March 23 to April 2, guided by Navy Blue Travel. The route follows the cradle of Africa, inviting exploration of the vast savannahs and the majesty of Kilimanjaro. Will you miss it?
The expedition participants are supported by Juan Luis Arsuaga, a doctor of Biological Sciences and director of the Center for Human Evolution and Behavior. He also serves as scientific director of the Burgos Museum of Human Evolution and co-director of excavations at Atapuerca in Burgos and Pinilla del Valle in Madrid.
KILIMANJARO AND THE GREAT SAVANNAH
Only a handful of airports in the world offer vistas like Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest peak. The sight that greets travelers as they approach the runway on a clear day already adds a special dimension to the journey.
A route that threads through the cradle of Africa reveals the great savannah and Kilimanjaro, offering a rich tapestry of landscapes and experiences for the traveler.
The volcanic forces that built Kilimanjaro relate to the Rift Valley, the vast fracture that threads across Africa and expands year by year. Everything here feels primal and elemental, a true wildlife paradise that invites a return to our origins, a sense of belonging that begins the moment travelers step off the plane. In a moment of reflection, a visit to Karen Blixen’s home before the return flight connects literature with travel, echoing Africa Memories and the dreams it inspired.
SERENGETI AND MASAI MARA
Two more African treasures accompany the expedition, deepening the dream for travelers. Serengeti National Park has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1981. The vast one-and-a-half-million-hectare savanna supports immense herds of herbivores—antelopes, gazelles, and wildebeests—and the predators that pursue them. Each year, vast migrations converge at reliable watering holes, making Serengeti one of the most awe-inspiring natural displays on the planet.
Masai Mara Reserve sits in the buffer zone between Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. It is home to the Masai people, whose culture, traditions, and dances enrich the landscape. Here shepherds and warriors live alongside lions, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, leopards, elephants, and African buffalos, creating a dynamic tapestry of wildlife and culture.
