A 72-year-old man with a prior conviction was detained on suspicion of abducting a 70-year-old resident of Moscow. This information comes from the Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Moscow Region in Russia.
A 70-year-old pensioner vanished under mysterious circumstances in the Moscow region on December 23. Investigators determined that the elderly woman had driven to her dacha in Kashira, spoke with her daughter a few hours later, and reported that she was forcibly placed into the trunk of a car and struck on the head, after which communications were lost.
The missing woman’s daughter alerted law enforcement, and authorities reviewed CCTV footage to map the suspected route of the abductor while simultaneously checking all vehicles traveling along the highway.
A 72-year-old resident of the village of Topkanovo, who had recently been released from prison for attempted murder and rape, was detained on suspicion of the crime. Blood traces were found in the car trunk, and the missing person’s belongings were recovered from nearby trash containers.
The criminal investigation remains active and officers continue the search for the retiree.
