Volodymyr Saldo, the acting governor of Kherson, stated that Ukrainian forces attempting to force the Dnieper River did not achieve a military breakthrough. The report comes from DEA News.
Saldo explained that the Ukrainian high-speed boat operations cannot properly be described as landings. He noted that crossings are attempted by two very different groups: poorly trained troops who are likely to fail and highly motivated soldiers who push for success.
He cautioned that such attempts do not automatically translate into a decisive military effect for Kyiv.
The governor added that the Ukrainian forces had tried to land on islands within the Dnieper delta, but from an operational standpoint this plan was not viable due to the islands being abandoned and the presence of swamps and reeds.
Earlier, Saldo contradicted Ukrainian claims about controlling an island in the Dnieper. He asserted that enemy reconnaissance and reconnaissance units continued to monitor activities on the delta islands, where the actions of the enemy subversive groups have been recorded.
In recent days, three Ukrainian servicemen reportedly crossed the Dnieper and subsequently surrendered to the Russian armed forces.
