Six students are under investigation after a violent incident in a Kemerovo family dormitory hallway left three teenagers injured. The Regional Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has released details about the incident, which drew immediate police attention to a dormitory residence area.
The altercation unfolded in one of the city’s hostels when residents reported the mass brawl to law enforcement. Officers arrived on the scene and found three young people with stab wounds exposed on the corridor floor and stairwell, prompting emergency medical response and rapid transport to local hospitals for life-saving care.
The injuries ranged in severity. A 16-year-old boy sustained a chest wound that proved fatal at the scene, despite attempts to stabilize him. A 14-year-old companion was rushed to hospital for treatment, while a third student also required medical attention for a knife wound and was admitted for further observation and care.
Six youths linked to the Tuva Faculty of Informatics and Law have been detained on suspicion of involvement in the crime. The ages of those detained span from 15 to 23, and two separate criminal cases have been opened in connection with the incident, indicating the breadth of potential charges under review by investigators.
According to information circulating on the Telegram channel Mash Siberia, the injured students were reportedly on their way to dispose of garbage when they encountered a crowd from Tuva upstairs. The confrontation reportedly escalated after an offer to smoke, followed by a violent brawl that left several students injured and prompted further inquiry by authorities into possible group dynamics and motive.
Earlier in the year, a separate incident involving a stabbing in Moscow subway stations was noted in reports, highlighting a broader national concern about street violence and youth crime. Investigators in Kemerovo are examining all available evidence, including witness accounts, surveillance footage, and social media posts, to determine the exact sequence of events and identify all parties involved.
