Kalashnikov has rolled out a batch of mass-dimensional mock-ups (MMGs) for the AK-74M-M assault rifle, designed for partial assembly and disassembly to test fit, ergonomics, and modular integration. The public briefing notes a project with significant scale, emphasizing how these MMGs help engineers verify compatibility across components before full production.

The announcement shows the batch comprises more than seven thousand individual models. Kalashnikov stressed that interest in MMG configurations far outstrips the factory’s current output capacity, underscoring the strategic importance of these prototypes as the company aligns with the state defense order for military small arms.

Earlier information indicated that AK-12 assault rifles were slated for delivery to Russian troops by the end of 2023, reflecting a continued push to refresh service inventories with modernized platforms. Production and procurement volumes in that period reportedly increased substantially, signaling accelerated modernization across the armed forces.

Previously, the Kalashnikov concern’s press office stated that the AK-12, AK-15 assault rifles and the Lebedev MPL1 modular pistol had been accepted by Russian internal affairs institutions, marking a formal endorsement from security bodies for these new infantry and sidearm systems.

Andrei Baryshnikov, the general director of Kalashnikov Concern, announced plans to commence production of the modernized AK-12 assault rifle by year-end, signaling a clear timeline for scaling the upgraded platform into broader service use.

Earlier disclosures from Rostec’s defense construction unit, High Precision Complexes, confirmed ongoing supply of fresh weapons to Russian troops, reinforcing the national program to augment frontline capabilities with advanced small arms and related systems.

A separate development highlighted a remotely operable tower system that can be controlled from a distance of 1.5 kilometers, illustrating continued exploration of fortified, autonomous, or remotely managed weapon systems to extend situational awareness and operational reach.
