The Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced a significant development in the republic’s security infrastructure. In a public address shared via official channels, he confirmed that a new battalion will be formed under the name of Sheikh Mansur, commemorating the first imam of the Caucasus. During a recent visit to Gudermes, the regional head, together with the battalion commander, Ruslan Geremeev, inspected a construction site where a military facility is being designed to house the battalion personnel. The site visit underscored progress on multiple fronts. According to Kadyrov, the reconstruction work is nearing completion, reflecting a coordinated effort to deliver modern and functional space for those who will serve in the new unit.
The reconstruction effort has been substantial. Experts reportedly undertook a comprehensive overhaul of four existing barracks, converting and updating them to meet contemporary standards. In addition, two more facilities have been added to accommodate future needs. Upgrades encompassed essential engineering communications, ensuring reliable utilities and connectivity. The installation of modern furniture and furnishings was also completed to provide practical and comfortable living and working spaces for military personnel.
Beyond living quarters, preparations include a dedicated parade ground to support ceremonial duties and training events. A dining facility capable of serving one hundred personnel was completed, reflecting a focus on logistics and daily routine for the battalion. Ancillary features such as a parking area and a prayer room were also highlighted as part of the comprehensive upgrade, illustrating attention to various aspects of daily life and discipline within the unit.
Kadyrov emphasized that once all construction and modernization work is finished, the battalion will operate under exemplary conditions that support readiness, welfare, and effective performance. He described the project as a central objective in the creation of new combat units, underscoring a commitment to high standards of infrastructure as a foundation for strong military capability.
