This case concerns a Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office agreement reached with two youths who were involved in the murder of Isaac, an 18-year-old who had Asperger’s syndrome. The incident occurred in July 2021 inside a tunnel in Madrid’s Pacific district, according to legal sources cited by Europa Press. The agreement reached at the hearing on Tuesday laid out a plan in which the minors would serve between four and six years in a youth detention facility, with placement at a youth center once the terms are formalized in the court decision. The deal hinges on identifying all participants in the crime and confirming their ties to the Latin gang known as Dominican Don’t Play (DDP). This process will determine the final composition of the sentence and the corresponding custody arrangements.

Author of fatal stabbing, in temporary prison

At the hearing, the prosecutor had sought ten years of prison time for two of the three young defendants and a six-year probation period following release from the institution. For a fourth teenager involved in the case, the sentence was reduced to five years in prison and three years of probation because he was 14 years old at the time of the events. The court’s upcoming decision will reflect these terms as the authorities complete the victim’s identity confirmation and the participants’ affiliations with the gang.

On August 25, the three minors and a supervising adult faced arrest, with the youths placed under a closed regime at the Teresa de Calcutta children’s center in Valdaracete, within the Community of Madrid. The murder involved one adult and three minors who were linked to video recordings tied to Latinate gang activity, portraying the victim and the events related to Isaac’s case.

The adult defendant, still in temporary prison, acknowledged the murder before the judge, asserting that it followed an insult to him and denying membership in Dominican Don’t Play. The judge’s assessment considered the circumstances, including the age of the younger participants at the time of the crime, and aimed to balance accountability with the protections afforded to juvenile offenders.
