A mother and her son faced a highly consequential investigation as authorities acted on a tip about an illicit drug operation suspected of distributing substances from a rural property near Elche. This crackdown was the result of a joint effort between the National Police and the Civil Guard, who combined resources to dismantle a hidden drug outlet in the Elche countryside.

Two individuals were taken into custody during the operation: a 52-year-old woman and her 21-year-old son, both Spanish nationals. They stand accused of involvement in drug trafficking.

The inquiry began after information regarding the mother and son was received by the Elche National Police Narcotics Group and the Santa Pola Civil Guard Investigation District. They were accused of selling narcotics from a rural residence near Elche.

National Police and Civil Guard units coordinated over an extended period to execute a sequence of precise moves. They conducted surveillance at the address to verify the information and to observe activity firsthand. The teams confirmed a steady stream of people arriving and departing in short intervals, reinforcing the suspicion of ongoing illegal trade.

During the operation, officers discovered packs of drugs, shotguns, cash, and the tools necessary to prepare and distribute substances. Evidence catalogued during the search underscored the scale of the activity and its organized nature.

With mounting information, investigators obtained additional proof that the site could be a persistent hub for narcotics sales. A request for an arrest warrant was submitted to the competent judicial authority, based on the accumulating evidence that highlighted the location as a drug-trafficking hot spot.

Record

The search yielded concrete results at the residence. Seized items included 89 grams of marijuana and 15 grams of cocaine, along with 5,610 euros in cash. A notebook detailed notes on fractional notes, coins, quantities, and names, while a precision scale and various implements used in processing and distributing drugs were recovered. A pellet shotgun and two pepper spray devices were also found as part of the evidence collected during the operation.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the State Security Forces and Organizations to curb illicit retail drug activity in the province of Alicante, with a focus on rural areas where enforcement has historically been more challenging. The presence of police patrols was heightened as a preventive measure to bolster citizen safety and deter similar offenses in the future.

The two detainees, a 52-year-old woman and her 21-year-old son, were turned over to the court of inquiry in Elche for processing. The case continues to be handled under the standard legal framework applicable to narcotics offenses in the region.
