The Investigative Committee of Buryatia has opened a criminal case following the discovery of a deceased infant on the veranda of a private residence. The newborn’s father is under suspicion as part of the ongoing inquiry, according to the department’s press service.

Officials report that the incident occurred on August 31 in the Dede-Ichetui ulus of the Dzhidinsky district within the republic. During the day, both parents reportedly consumed alcohol while tensions rose among nearby residents. According to the investigation, the father allegedly seized his month-old daughter and inflicted bodily harm. A neighbor who could not locate the child alerted law enforcement authorities, prompting an immediate response.

As the inquiry progressed, investigators located the infant’s body concealed in a box on the veranda. In a subsequent investigative procedure, the suspect demonstrated the act to officers. Criminal proceedings have been instituted, and prosecutors are considering detention as a preventive measure for the defendant while the case proceeds through the legal process.

In a related report, a Tuva resident faced accusations in a separate newborn death. A man involved in a dispute with his partner reportedly grabbed their newborn son, threw him to the ground, and then removed the child again after the mother managed to intervene. The infant was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Earlier, in Rostov-on-Don, authorities reported a grave crime where a parent allegedly killed a baby and dismembered the body with a meat grinder. The case has drawn significant attention to the dangers surrounding newborn welfare and family violence, prompting continued investigation and scheduled court proceedings to determine accountability and protective actions for vulnerable children.
