The Investigative Committee of the Russian Republic of Kalmykia has initiated a criminal case in connection with a recent incident that took place in the commercial section of a residential building in Elista. This update was relayed by the regional news channel of the Investigative Committee.
Preliminary information indicates that the man involved, who is said to have prior registration at a psycho-neurology dispensary, entered the psychological assistance center as a client shortly before the events unfolded.
The Investigative Committee confirms that during a confrontation with an employee at the center, the man triggered an explosive device whose origin remains unidentified, and he sustained life-threatening injuries. The center employee who was seriously injured, along with a relative, were transported to Cumhuriyet Hospital for urgent medical care.
The Ministry noted that investigative teams, in coordination with operational services, were present at the scene and are actively working to determine all circumstances surrounding the incident.
Reports indicate that an unidentified man exited the mediation and education services center located on Klykova Street in Elista after the confrontation.
Following the blast, authorities confirmed that one person sustained life-threatening injuries while two others sustained various injuries. Emergency responders and police units remain on site to secure the area and assist those affected.
Authorities also disclosed that the individual involved has a history of mental health issues and was subsequently transferred to a mental health facility. A device described as a grenade was involved in the incident.
