A witness from Mytishchi reported to socialbites.ca that a Scania truck driver fell asleep behind the wheel, causing a serious road accident. The witness said the driver who caused the crash was injured and taken to a hospital after the collision.
The eyewitness, who works for a road maintenance organization, described how responders and traffic police arrived at the scene to manage the aftermath. He confirmed the key detail that the truck driver dozed off while driving. According to his account, six people sustained injuries and one person died as a result of the crash. He attributed the sole fatality to the truck driver and noted the driver had also been injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.
Earlier, the administration of the Mytishchi urban district released video footage showing the moment of impact at the intersection of Volkovskoye Highway and Mira Street. The clip captures a truck colliding with four vehicles that were stopped at traffic lights. The administration reported that six individuals were hurt, with one casualty occurring before paramedics could reach the scene.
The regional prosecutor’s office subsequently opened a criminal case against the truck driver. The charge is filed under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which covers violations of road rules by a person driving a vehicle that result in the negligent death of another person.
