In Tatarstan, investigators opened a criminal case after a girl died from carbon monoxide exposure. The press office for Russia’s SU IC confirmed the information on its Telegram channel. The incident happened on the evening of February 7 in Kazan, inside a private house on Zelinsky Street. Inside the residence, a 17-year-old girl and four other children born in 2008 to 2015 were found and later hospitalized with signs of carbon monoxide poisoning. Initial findings point to insufficient ventilation in a bathroom where a gas water heater and a boiler were installed. The girl who died was in the bathroom at the time of exposure. A criminal case has been opened under the statute involving the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements. Authorities have not released additional details about the state of the other victims. Earlier reports noted that two children were poisoned by carbon monoxide in Saratov region.
