Investigation Opened After Burn Incident in Yaroslavl

An investigation has been opened into a serious burn incident involving a three-year-old child at a kindergarten in the Yaroslavl region. The inquiry is being conducted by the regional division of the Investigative Committee, with the aim of clarifying how the injuries occurred and ensuring accountability where appropriate. The case has been formally noted and is progressing under the oversight of higher authorities within the Russian Investigative Committee system, as part of its standard response to harm involving a minor in an educational setting.

In the Yaroslavl region, inspectors are examining the kindergarten where the child sustained significant burns. The incident took place in Rybinsk on December 8, and the child’s mother provided an account of the events surrounding the episode.

According to the woman, a junior teacher was assisting the child in a bath when boiling water allegedly scalded him. The situation escalated as the child moved about with difficulty, and upon seeing his father, he cried out that someone had heated water for him. Observers reported that, in the presence of a senior teacher, the child was stripped to assess the severity of the injuries, revealing notable burn marks on the buttocks. The accounts provided by the family are under verification as part of the inquiry.

The investigation into injuries to a minor will be carried out by the Investigative Committee of the Yaroslavl Region, and the findings will be reported to the head of the Russian Investigative Committee for review and action as appropriate.

Earlier, regional investigators opened a criminal case related to five schoolchildren who reportedly fell into a boiling pit, an episode now under review to determine the circumstances and applicable charges. The ongoing process reflects the committee’s broader mandate to examine incidents involving children in educational environments and to provide updates as the investigation advances.
