The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case after information emerged about an attack on State Duma deputy Mikhail Matveev in Samara. The information was conveyed by a Telegram channel linked to law enforcement departments.
The Investigative Committee noted that all individuals involved in the incident have been identified and detained. A criminal case has been initiated under the article on hooliganism in the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation as part of the ongoing inquiry.
At present, investigators are carrying out the required investigative activities to establish all circumstances surrounding the episode.
Earlier, Mikhail Matveev, a deputy of the State Duma, stated that he was attacked by three migrants in Samara. He reported that he and the driver exited the vehicle to assess the situation. When the deputy requested the attackers stop, he was shot in the head.
Alexander Bydanov, a resident of Apatity who faced charges for attacking the governor of the Murmansk region, Andrei Chibis, with a knife, told hospital staff the day before that he was ready to apologize to the regional chairman for his actions.
Earlier reports described an attack by an immigrant on two women near a cafe in St. Petersburg.
