Investigators from Requena’s No. 3 Investigating Court are examining the death of a 49-year-old woman, treated as a potential homicide, while a Ukrainian national was discovered deceased in his home on Thursday afternoon in Godelleta. Local and Civil Guard authorities report that a 57-year-old Spaniard has been detained as part of a domestic violence case, though a restraining order had previously been issued during the related proceedings.
The deceased woman’s body was found by the man at his residence around 16:30. He told officers that the couple shared the home, and he had gone there in the wake of the protection order connected to the prior abuse case, gathering clothing before authorities arrived. When no one answered after he called, he entered the home and alerted emergency services, discovering the woman without signs of life.
He was arrested for violating the restraining order
Upon arrival, the first patrol units from the Civil Guard and the Godelleta Local Police took the man into custody for breaching the protective order. Authorities stressed that at this stage there is no confirmation of capital murder; the autopsy is expected to determine whether the death results from homicide or another cause.
Investigators noted a facial hematoma on the deceased, the origin of which remains under review as the case progresses. A judicial commission and the on-duty forensic medicine officer were dispatched to the scene to assess the incident and collect evidence for the ongoing inquiry.
The autopsy and official review
The body has been released to the Valencian Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) for autopsy, where forensic examination is scheduled to take place today. The investigation is being led by the prosecutor and coordinated with the Judicial Police unit of the Riba-roja Civil Guard Valencia Command. A statement issued by the command emphasizes that there are currently no confirmed signs of violence at the scene, while the court continues to treat the case as a suspected murder until proven otherwise.
