Law enforcement expands inquiry after a deputy was poisoned with fly agaric
Authorities are questioning a 27-year-old woman who was beside Denis Terekhov, a deputy from the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, at the time of the alleged fly agaric exposure. This development comes as investigators pursue more details about the incident, first reported by Basis.
According to law enforcement sources, Terekhov finished his shift around eight in the evening and exchanged goodbyes with colleagues before heading home. Four hours later, he reached out to his deputy for assistance, triggering a rapid response from emergency crews.
Medics soon confirmed that the 44-year-old deputy had suffered poisoning. He was transported to the intensive care unit at the Sklifodinsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine, where doctors assessed the situation and attributed the poisoning to fly agaric mushrooms.
Current inquiries focus on identifying the source of the mushrooms. Police and investigators plan to question the deputy’s girlfriend, who was with him on the evening of the incident, to determine whether she played a role in procurement or if any other parties were involved.
Earlier statements from the Legislative Assembly’s press service suggested that media reports about the deputy’s hospitalization could not be independently verified by Basis at that time. The evolving nature of the investigation means officials are proceeding cautiously while seeking a fuller timeline of events and potential motives.
As the probe continues, authorities are examining security footage, financial records, and personal communications to piece together how the poisonings occurred and whether the incident involved other individuals. The public awaits further updates as officials work to establish a clear sequence of actions and determine responsibility in this unsettling case.
