In the Trans-Baikal Territory, investigators have completed their examination of a criminal case involving a man charged with murder. This update comes from the press service of the Regional Department of the Investigative Committee.
The offense occurred on the night of April 26, 2022. The 60-year-old suspect was reportedly drinking with a friend, engaged in a dispute, and attacked his companion with a metal tong, a metal pipe, and a number of other objects. The victim died at the scene, and the events proceeded to a rapid and careful investigative phase.
The assailant disposed of the victim’s body by discarding it into a street toilet cesspool. Police, while pursuing leads related to the victim’s disappearance, located the suspect several days after the incident.
A comprehensive set of investigative measures was undertaken to establish the circumstances and causes surrounding the crime. The defendant admitted to the act during questioning. Prior to this, he had faced legal proceedings for related matters, according to available records.
The case materials have been forwarded to the court for review. If found guilty, the defendant faces a potential prison term of up to 15 years.
