The Russian Federation’s Ministry of Construction, Housing and Community Services announced that the International Construction Championship is scheduled to take place from October 17 to 20, 2023 in St. Petersburg. The announcement confirmed that the event will be hosted in St. Petersburg, underscoring the city’s role as a key hub for industry collaboration and innovation. Last year’s championship drew participation from over 6,000 attendees representing 24 countries. Organizers expect to preserve that momentum by continuing the tradition of uniting construction professionals, researchers, and students from Russia and friendly nations. The program features a working agenda, exhibition space, and a competitive program designed to showcase practical methods, emerging technologies, and new approaches to project delivery. This year, organizers highlighted the addition of new directions that include engagement from school students and seasoned professionals working on residential construction projects, signaling a broader outreach to the next generation of talent in the field.
In speaking about results amid challenging economic conditions, the ministry credited the strong performance of the construction and housing sectors in 2022 to the coordinated efforts of regional teams, as well as sustained support from national leadership. The message emphasized continuity in progress and the importance of the championship as a focal point for industry resilience and shared achievement, even in difficult times.
Gennady Sakharov, who serves as Rosatom’s Director of Capital Investments, State Construction Supervision and State Expertise, described the championship as a platform for open dialogue among the leaders of the construction sector. The event is seen as a venue to exchange best practices across industrial construction, foster long-term relationships, and facilitate strategic decision-making that can influence the direction of the industry.
Aleksey Agafonov, First Deputy Director General of Russia – Land of Opportunities, spoke about the need to cultivate a sustainable talent pool for the sector.
