Immaculate Casal spoke after entering prison Antonio Tejado for his alleged involvement in the robbery at his home. This Sunday, the journalist unveiled the latest issue of the Afternoon Andalusia program he hosts on South Channel, addressing the audience directly: “As you know, we have just endured another very difficult week due to the flood of news that appeared last week. Unfortunately, my entire family and I found ourselves as victims.”
“Let me share something with you. In the eighties, when I was eighteen, I chose journalism as my path. With that youthful urge to change the world, my parents had to push me to Madrid because there was no Information Sciences faculty nearby, and they sent me to the Complutense University. I quickly realized that the world cannot be changed by one person alone, but each of us can contribute from our place with a small grain of sand to make this world a bit better and fairer. Perhaps that is why I specialized in court reporting,” the journalist explained.
“I have always aimed to present information in a serious, balanced, and verified way. In the eighties I never fell for sensationalism or the sensational programs that proliferated at that time, and I never profited from it. Journalists are, perhaps, what we have to rely on. Thanks to the platform, we can elevate or bring someone down with a few words, and I think that warrants deep respect,” the broadcaster continued at the outset.
At the start of Andalusia Afternoon, Casal posed a clear question in light of the media storm that has unfolded in recent days: “Unfortunately, I have become a leading figure, albeit unintentionally, and I am part of a process already in the hands of the courts. I ask you to show respect to all parties involved.”
“And above all, I respect all of you who join us every afternoon and hope you enjoy Andalusia Afternoon. We will provide the most serious, rigorous, and verified information possible. The audience has the right to be informed. So, this message is for you, and as we say in Andalusia, I have no choice but to take the bull by the horns.”
Inmaculada Casal is absent from Andalusia in the afternoon while the case undergoes investigation
As the program continued, when the topic was about to be discussed, Inmaculada Casal did not appear at the current affairs table on the Canal Sur program, and the baton was passed to colleagues Sergio Morante and María Contreras.
“We cannot close our ears to the news of the week, nor close our eyes. One of the most talked-about events was the break-in at my home and the impact on my family, of which I was the central figure. I stated at the outset that the audience deserves to be informed, but since I was entangled in this news, I understand that they will accept that I abstain from this part. They leave it out, and I leave it in the hands of professionals because I cannot be part of this news, and I cannot even judge it.” The presenter remarked.
“I trust in the justice system and the integrity of our country. I thank our Civil Guard for their dedicated work during these six months, weaving a careful and evolving effort from small pieces to a broader picture thanks to the tips and materials they have gathered.” Casal added.

The communicator also reassured viewers once again that he and María del Monte had already said everything necessary on this matter before leaving the studio: “To avoid any obstruction of the investigation or justice, I will allow myself to call my dear Sergio Morante.”
